Mojo Info page

A Mojo is a small charm bag used to attract or dispel certain influences. It is, in short, a staple amulet containing one or more magical items. It is a "prayer in a bag" -- a spell you can carry. Mojo bags are about the size of a small rabbit's foot. Our bags are color coordinated and filled with herbs that are blended exclusively for a specific intent depending on what is it used for. The ingredients most commonly found in mojo bags are roots and herbs, plus a variety of appropriate objects such as dyed feathers -- green for money, red for love, orange for anger, blue for spiritual peace, and written papers to add extra power.

Alternative American names for the mojo bag include hand, mojo hand, conjure hand, lucky hand, conjure bag, trick bag, root bag, toby, jomo, and gris-gris bag. A mojo used for divination, somewhat like a pendulum, is called a Jack, Jack bag, or Jack ball.

Mojo bags are usually carried on the person, always out of sight. They are very rarely worn on a string around the neck, commonly pinned inside a woman's brassiere, and much more commonly pinned to the clothes below the waist or carried in a pants pocket. Nevertheless, mojo bags can be worn on a belt or necklace, or carried in a purse, used as focused intent during a spell working or whatever the need may be. You can keep it in your glove compartment, desk or any place where it's powers may be most effective. Just about any tradition and practitioner of magic commonly use them.

Those who make conjure bags to carry as love spells sometimes specify that the mojo bag be worn next to the skin. Mojos intended to purify or protect a location are generally placed near the door, hidden in such a way that strangers cannot see them. Keeping the mojo bag from being seen is important because if another person touches it, the luck may be lost. This is sometimes called "killing the hand".

For a mojo bag to work properly, everything put into the bag must possess the appropriate magical vibration corresponding to the spell. For instance, a mojo bag made for attracting a lover should contain only herbs, or other objects associated with love magic or symbolic of romance. A mojo carried for love-drawing will contain different ingredients than one for gambling luck or magical protection. Generally there are at least three items in a mojo, and many root doctors try to ensure that the total number of ingredients comes to an odd number -- 3, 5, 7, 9, or 13 -- although sometimes mixed herbs are counted as one item.

All of our mojo bags are consecrated and charged for their own magical vibration corresponding to the spell. Once prepared, the mojo bag is dressed with the corresponding oils. It may also be "smoked" in incense fumes or the smoke from a candle, to bring it to life.

All of our mojo bags come with clear and simple instructions. You do not need not to be a practitioner of magic to “know how to use them”. Our mojo bags have been charged and consecrated by us so that anyone can use them to attract or dispel certain influences.
